Courting Danger
August 22, 2006Do you always test your limits? Do you know how many bottles of beer you can consume before you get drunk? Do you know how long you can hold your breath underwater? Do you know how many shrimps you can eat before your allergy attacks? Do you how much weight you can carry before you arms give way? If you can say the exact number and I do mean the precise number (to the last second, to the last pound, to the last decimal place), you have really tested your limits. You have done several experiments on how much you can get away with.
What about your morals? Do you also test them? Do you push yourself to see how far you can get without crossing the line of your ethics? If yes, why do you do it? Are you doing it subconsciously? They say "masarap ang bawal" and anything good in this life is either illegal, immoral or fattening. Is that it? Do you know really know what is at stake by doing this? Does gambling with your morals gives you a high or is it because the situation calls for it? Whatever your reasons are, I hope it's worth it. Because when playing with fire, you eventually get burnt. Maybe not in this lifetime —– worse, in the afterlife.
